What Makes Great Content?

Building a massive website entails a huge volume of content, but it’s not just any content. It should be relevant to your users and will help you get better rankings in search engine results pages. So, what does “great content” mean to you? Listed below are some factors to consider:

1. Focus on a topic that you’re an expert in or passionate about.

It’s not really about the number of words per article or how many keywords you’ve incorporated into your content. Always remember: write for users, not search engines.

 

It’s about providing information that is relevant to your users. To do that, you should have a deep understanding of what you’re writing about. Otherwise, it will not be good enough.

2. Keep your content free from grammatical and spelling errors

Once you’re done writing your article, check and double check it to make sure that there are no errors in grammar and spelling. You can ask someone to read your content or use online tools that will automatically tell you if there are errors.

 

3. Use headings and bullet points

One way to make your article reader-friendly is to break down your article with headings and bullet points.

 

Imagine that your users are always on the go. They do not have time to go through a lengthy, wordy article. So, make sure to use headings and bullet points to highlight information that your users need.

4. Use images that are related to your content

People are usually visual learners. Take advantage of this by using great images that will get their attention and make them want to learn more and go through your article.

 

If possible, put the image at the top part of your content so it will be one of the first things that users will see.

 

5. Create diagrams

Speaking of people being visual learners, you can also make your content great by creating diagrams that are easy to understand. The diagrams should explain how something works in a more efficient way or serve to complement your text.

6. Add a summary or a list of takeaways

It’s always helpful to have an overview so users will immediately have an idea of what your article covers. Keep it short and straightforward.

7. Add examples or templates

If possible, make sure to include examples in your content. For example, if you wrote about how to write a resignation letter, you can add a template that users can look at as a guide when they’re writing their own letters.
